Seventeen years ago, I penned a little story for my then five-year-old grandson who was struggling with his parents' divorce. As a grandmother and a psychotherapist, I wrote it from a tender, yet mindful perspective of what children experience when their home, and their perception of love, is disrupted.

Today, Love Is Like the Moon finally makes its journey into the world.

NEW CHILDREN'S BOOK

Children often carry fears and feelings they do not know how to express during times of family change.

Love Is Like the Moon was written to help open gentle conversations between children and the adults who love them, reminding young hearts that feelings are meant to be heard and shared.

Love is like the moon:
we can’t always see her, but she is always in the sky.”

Hello, World!

I'm a mother, grandmother, psychotherapist, and retired nurse with a particularly soft heart for children and animals.

I wrote Love Is Like the Moon for all children who are having difficulty with divorce, and for the adults who love them and need a thoughtful tool to facilitate the open expression of their feelings, and to release the energy associated with them—feelings that must “go” somewhere. “Up” and “out” are always preferable to suppresion, and this book encourages getting the feelings out so that healing may begin.

The Story Behind the Story

Love Is Like the Moon was written seventeen years ago, in 2009.

Like many creative projects, it began with a spark of inspiration and a desire to share something meaningful with children. After it was written, life moved forward, and the manuscript was carefully tucked away.

For years, the story waited quietly. Then, at just the right time, it found its way back into the light.

What began as a simple children's story became a reminder that some dreams don't arrive on our

timetable. Some need time to grow, time to ripen, and time to find the people they're meant to reach.

At long last, Love Is Like the Moon is ready for readers, with my hope that its message brings comfort, understanding, and a gentle reminder that love is always present—even when we can't see it.

Thank you for being part of its story.
